A green recovery for industry: finance, policy and technologies for Sri Lanka’s industrial decarbonization

For Sri Lanka to emerge stronger, industrial decarbonization must be at the heart of the country’s economic recovery from the energy crisis of the past two years. Already, ongoing efforts to green manufacturing processes are helping the country meet its climate goals by slashing energy waste and the emissions of greenhouse gasses. The 2024 edition of the Industry Dialogue sheds light on the policies, financial arrangements and technologies necessary to accelerate the decarbonization of key industrial sectors, how these interact and the progress made so far to roll them out.

The Accelerating Industries’ Climate Response in Sri Lanka’ project invites representatives from the business community, government, the finance sector and civil society to share their experiences and insights on these topics in the second of a series of Industry Dialogue events. The event will take place from 9:00 –14:00 on 28 March at the Galle Face Hotel.

The first session will feature a panel discussion about policy, financing arrangements and recommendations to ignite an inclusive industrial decarbonization. Panelists and presenters will include international experts involved in climate action in the industrial sector as well as high level representatives from the relevant ministries.

The second session will feature a round table discussion about the role of energy efficiency in industrial decarbonization and will showcase some of the successes achieved after a year implementing the internationally recognized energy management systems training across industries.

During both sessions the audience will be invited to ask questions.
